So i have revamped the z axis acme motion platform. Having studied the optimal ways to set this up, i concluded that it must be changed. The acme rod ideally should have a bearing supporting it on the top and bottom to stop it flexing. So i designed parts to hold these bearings. A “all in one” part works as a mount for the stepper and lower bearing holder. The acme nut mount has been redesigned to be 3D printed. A acme collar located above the lower bearing prevents the acme rod from applying downwards force upon the coupler. This allows the coupler to function more effectively.
